DISA SAM Mixer
DISA SAM Mixer
Key Benefits
Easy Maintenance
Design and function
Ceramic lining
Bond injection
Features
- Low maintenance costs and ease of access to all wear parts
- Environment-responsible operation, with no dust or loss of fines
- Compactability and sand strength control in the mixer during the mixer cycle
Clever Design
- Large service door for walk-in access to the mixer bowl
- Mixer gear and drives on top of mixer for ease of service
Fast accurate and uniform sand preparation - the DISA SAM mixer produces the consistently high quality sand necessary to attain good castings with lowest reject rates.
Mixing intensity and uniformity
High-intensity mixing ensures uniform coating of all sand grains, maximum bonding forces, and reduced costs for excess bentonite and additives.
Short cycle times
Short cycle times (no dry cycle necessary) result in high output rates, coupled with limited temperature increases.
Compressiblity control in the mixer
The Sand Multi-Controller (SMC) measures the compactability of the sand in the mixer, and adjusts the water addition for the batch being mixed to suit.
Important features include:
- Low maintenance costs and ease of access to all wear parts
- Homogeneous moulding sand of consistently high quality
- High throughput rate and short mixing cycles
- Environment-responsible operation, with no dust or loss of fines
- No fluctuating loads on the turbine and a rigid mixer structure allow direct installation on steel floors without the need for vibration isolation
- Mixer gear and drives on top of mixer for ease of service
- Large service door for walk-in access to the mixer bowl
- Compact-ability and sand strength control in the mixer during the mixer cycle
Easy maintenance
Unsurpassed accessibility, easy parts exchange and reduced maintenance requirements mean more uptime and faster service.
Design and function
The bowl is a strong, welded construction with a convex top section supporting the complete drive unit.
A rotating arm and central shaft carry the mixing turbine, wall scraper, pan plough, directional vane and water sprays.
The high-speed mixing turbine circulates around the stationary bowl. A full size wall scraper and pan plough, together with an adjustable guide vane, throw the sand into the path of the circulating turbine.
Water sprays mounted on the main rotating arm distribute water evenly into the sand batch. The scraper and plough circulate with the turbine and provide a steady sand flow to the turbine.
The bottom plate and the bowl wall are supplied with exchangeable wear plates or optionally, ceramic lining.
Two stainless steel weigh hoppers are used for sand and for additives.
Prepared sand is discharged through a sand gate in the mixer pan.
Ceramic lining
The mixing bowl (sides and base plate) is available with ceramic lining instead of wear plates. The lifetime of the ceramic lining is over 10 years. This means saving on wear plates, no wasted production time, and easy cleaning of the mixer bowl.
Bond injection
As an option additives can be weighed at a remote location and blown directly into the sand batch in the mixer.
Extra discharge door
The SAM mixer can be equipped with an extra discharge to further reduce cycle time.
