Steel Container Corners made on a DISAMATIC D5

Every year, over 4 million containers are produced, requiring more than 32 million new container corner castings. Traditionally, these steel castings are made using shell moulding, which is slow, costly, old fashion, chemical-intensive and labor-intensive

A Chinese foundry has been seeking alternative production techniques to overcome these challenges and has found the ideal solution. Observing the success of other steel castings produced through the DISA green sand process, they identified it as highly suitable for container corners as well. Producing a large number of high-quality castings at a low cost was essential for this foundry. They needed a supplier that could deliver exceptional quality, reduce manpower needs, decrease scrap rates, promote sustainability, and avoid hazardous chemical binders - all while maintaining competitive costs. DISA was the only provider that met all these criteria.

"We're excited to announce that this foundry has decided to purchase a complete DISAMATIC D5 moulding line, with the capacity to produce over 2 million steel container corners annually. This production line will be installed at the 2nd quarter of 2025", says Eren Koc, Sales Manager Non-Iron at DISA."

Additionally, there are many other steel castings within this product category, including bucket teeth, railway plates, scaffold castings, valves, and more - all of which can be produced using DISA’s green sand process.
